Let's Pray...

Posted

I am making an unscheduled stop today in my blog to pause for a moment and ask for prayer.

For all the Christians out there that read this, will you pray with me on behalf of non-believers?

"Heavenly Father, there are a lot of people out there who are open-minded and awakening to the Holy Spirit as we speak. We know that there is still time for them to be saved, and we pray for them that they will continue to hear your word and see your grace. But Father, there are a lot of hard hearts out there, too. There are so many people who are angry, bitter and scoffing. They deny your existence... they mock and laugh at our efforts to show your word... and they've hardened their hearts to anything that we might say or do to possibly get them to at least open their minds. Help give us strength to move on, and to continue teaching your word, and to continue living by example. We want everyone to live out eternity in your Kingdom just as much as You do. Yet we know that many will choose Hell over Heaven. This saddens us as much as it does You, too. LORD, continue to use us in the best way that you can in order to spread the Gospel and bring people to Jesus. And come quickly, Father, for your children are weary and tired. In Christ's name... Amen."

Why did I do this, you ask? Well, because I had a thought yesterday that if the current events with the war between Georgia/Russia and the tensions between Iran/Israel were so eye opening for me, perhaps they would be eye-opening for some non-believers, too. I thought that maybe it would get them to sit up, scratch their heads and say, "Hey! That's crazy! There is prophecy about a war with all of these people in the Bible? No way!"

Alas, that's not what happened. I took my blog entry from yesterday to the Yahoo R&S board (Religion and Spirituality) and posted some of the content on there. The first go around I forgot to mention that Russia, Georgia, Iran, etc. all had different names back in Biblical times. But it didn't matter. When I re-posted it with the former and current names, it didn't make any difference.

Pretty much everyone completely blew me off, and some were downright nasty. What really gets me is that these people actually hang out on the Religion & Spirituality board... yet they are such bitter atheists! They lurk there with hopes to squash any attempts to talk about God and/or Christ. I talked more about these people in my recent post: OBADIAH (click on it to be taken to that post)

Here's a sampling of the sad responses I got when I talked about the fact that the Gog/Magog war with Russia, the Caucasus, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Israel were predicted in the Bible over 2500 years ago, and that today's events could be lining up for that:

--"Really? Now that would be amazing. I just searched an online Bible though and it came up with zero mentions of the words "Russia", "Iran", "Georgia" and "Turkey". You must have a different Bible, what exactly does you Bible say about it?"

--"Im holding out for the flying horses."

--"Yes, I know that is your interpretation of what some goat herders wrote. I could not care less what your buy-bull says."

--"The fervor with which some Christians want the world to be destroyed sickens me. I have no doubt that many of them jump up and down on their couches with glee, screaming, 'JESUS IS COMING, JESUS IS COMING!!! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! YYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!' If you want to destroy a planet, then gather the knowledge to colonize Mars. Leave this planet to the rest of us who actually like it." (This guy got 7 "thumbs-up" for his comment.)

--"christian, did you know your book is a pile of hippocritical bull$hit? did you also know you are by proxy a bigotist, hateful, moronic, racist, slave supporting, ignorant, rapist, pedophile condoning sheep?" (He got 5 thumbs-up for his reply.)

--"arent you just a bundle of fun. actually ... there is no mention of any of these countries"

--"... you know, if I wrote down a bunch of random predictions, chances are a few of them would turn out to be true. That doesn't mean you should start worshipping me."

--"And why would I care about that? War has erupted all over the planet at one point or another. If you make the prediction and give it enough time, chances are it will happen. grow up."

--"Yes. So? I predicted that the sun would rise this morning -- and it did!"

--"Correct me if I am wrong but Russia wasn't referred to as Russia then. Besides that there is NO WAY you can state it was a prophecy. It does not contain specific dates nor times. In fact it doesn't contain the actual current names of the countries. If it was a real prophecy it would contain those since the propheziser would know the name. Sorry but you are, at best, just a dub."

--"Okay, first, give us the quote(s) you're talking about. Second, explain exactly where you're getting Russia, Iran, Georgia, and Turkey from that quote. Also, people have been predicting the end times pretty much since the Ascension, so I think a bit of skepticism about current end-time predictions is perfectly healthy. I'm Pagan, and the way this fits my point of view is that...it doesn't, really. I don't believe in the Bible. In fact, I don't honestly believe that any Biblical prophesies have come true. Therefore, I'm not particularly worried about current events in the Middle East (or anywhere else) being a sign of the end times."

--"Yeah, Right! And Peter Pan will turn up at the last minute and teach us all how to fly to Never-Never land. Wake up and smell reality, not one single prophecy in the bible EVER came to pass....they were ALL after-the-fact prophecies written years (or even centuries) after the facts had already been established. Hind sight was always better than fore-sight! The God/Magog nonsense is no different. It's really more like Crap/Macrap!!! Does it occur to you that Russia never was and never will be an ISLAMIC STATE, and there is NO way THEOCRATIC IRAN WOULD EVER ALIGN ITSELF TO A COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST/SECULAR GOVERNMENT!!! There may have been an excuse for such invincible ignorance when the anonymous author of Ezekiel wrote his nonsense...but there is no excuse for that kind of idiocy in the 21st Century." (This guy is in for a big surprise... most definitely MANY Biblical prophecies have come true, and most definitely Russia will align with Iran. They've already started doing it with their weapons and hardware.)

--"B/S totally. People have been twisted "current events" into the bible to yell "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" for the last 2,000 years. Sorry, try again and keep up the wishful thinking."

--"aren't the magog a race of people eaters on andromeda scifi series?"

--"Come back when you find "Russia" in your Bible. Otherwise, you're just mangling words so they fit with the news. I could find much better matches in the Baghavad Gita than in your Bible for the current events."

--"See, you made the "prophecy" fit which isn't what prophecies are supposed to do. They are supposed to specifically fit what will happen."

--"Changing things to make it seem like this is specific doesn't make the prophecy any more true than it ever has been."

--"No thanks, I am not in the least bit interested in your nonsense; I have a functioning brain."

--"No, I haven't changed my mind. The bible is not truth."

--"Jeezzz....I was all set to do an internet search when the Holy Ghost bashed me in the back of the head and said: "YO, Dude, what makes you think cyber-phantoms will make any more sense than the gullible Jubilee ding-dong"???? Doesn't your god tell you that if you add anything to the bible your buns are going to be blistered in hell FOREVER????? Better buy some fire-proof "Pampers". LOL"

Can you believe it? There were much more, as well. I just pulled out the beauties. It really amazed me that people were so close-minded to even the simple fact that Russia, Iran, Georgia, etc. all had different names back then. I mean, hello???? Think about the United States was called back in Christopher Columbus's day. I'm sure if he were writing about the U.S., he wouldn't use words like New York or Washington D.C. -- and that was less than 600 years ago. Can't people realize that 2500 years ago, countries and regions had different names?

Bottom line is, we could have it all drawn out in a map, in detail, with a play-by-play in the Bible and they still wouldn't get it. Our pastor was right -- one truly needs the Holy Spirit in order to see and understand the writings of the Bible. What really disturbed me (just like in my post Obadiah), was the fact that these people are just so vile and bitter.

The upside is, I did get a few (only a few, but it's better than nothing) responses that supported my post. Let's enjoy those for a minute:

--"I truly appreciate your portion. I have been saying right along that our time here is short. In prophecy sense, all the actors are in place, the stage is set we are just waiting for the curtain to go up. All God's prophecies has and will come to pass. Unfortunately, we have a growing number of people who would rather worship anything but Christ. Yet another prophecies of our Lord that His name will be exalted above any other name and the world will hate you because of my name. You don't see people persecuting a person who worship a false god. Look at all the anger that come out of people when you say you are a Christian, even when you are being loving and kind they still want to rip you up."

--"When you trace the movements of ancient peoples, the above did move to areas or Russia etc. It is testified to by archaelogy. I have never found anything in the Bible to be incorrect archaelogically. I have been following eschatology for years, and the above interpretation is pretty much right on the money of the best known Biblical scholars of eschatology. This person did not pull this out of thin air..."

--"You're correct in what you've written, although my research leads me to conclude that Togarmah is Turkey. But it all works out one way or the other. The invasion will happen, since God does not go back on His promises. This will be very, very bad for the invading nations, since ALL of the invaders will be destroyed (the KJV contains a translation error when it states that a portion will survive). To J.P.: I respect your right to your opinion, but consider this: even the ancient Jewish sages identified Magog, Meshech, Tubal and Rosh as occupying the region we now call Russia. In fact, I challenge you to find even ONE recognized Jewish opinion, ancient or current, that alleges that Russia isn't involved. Even Josephus confirms this! I understand you don't believe as we do, but when this invasion occurs, God plainly states that He will be glorified before the entire world, including the Jews. Perhaps the fulfillment of this prophecy will get your attention?"

As I said to one guy the other day, just because someone refuses to believe something does not mean that it isn't true. What consoles me, though, is the fact that one day EVERYONE will know the truth.

Amen to that!

Very nice post.

I read your post on Obadiah some time ago and was going to comment on it, but my comment was too long and I never got it submitted. I wish I was a faster reader so that I could keep up with all that you post. You may not always post daily, but when you do post, you write quite a bit.

I never cease to be amazed at the violent ways that people oppose the gospel and those who believe it. I mean, it's one thing to disagree, but most people are downright hateful. I shudder to think of the experiences they might have had at the hands of "Christians" that turned their heart so far from God. I join in your prayer for their salvation.

Awesome post! I find all of this stuff so interesting. Not only the Biblical prophesies coming true before our very eyes (consider Israel being prophesied to become a nation again... and it did back in 1948... that's just one of many that have happened in the years since Christ's birth was a prophecy fulfilled)... some people just refuse to acknowledge it. If these people don't believe in God, then why do they spend so much time thinking about Him whenever they hang out on those message boards to pounce on Christians? I don't understand it either how they think that your point is wrong simply because you can't find "Russia" or "Iran" in the Bible. I'm sure you clearly stated that these regions had different names back then... the fact that they refuse to acknowledge that and brush you off so quickly is evidence that they've either not fully read what you wrote or they just want to brush you off. Their ignorance is obvious.

Keep it up, my sister in Christ! You are fighting the good fight. Do not be discouraged. You are a light shining in a dark world. I'll pray that God will use your influence to plant seeds in hardened hearts... for their salvation and for His ultimate glory.

Oops, I meant to say "... the fact that they refuse to acknowledge that and brush you off so quickly is evidence that they've either not fully read what you wrote or they just don't care enough to examine the evidence."

Here's another interesting article I found linked to from someone else's blog.

Hi, it's me again.

I guess what I really should say in relation to your Obadiah post and this one is that sometimes we write not for the idiots that are not likely to be swayed by anything that we say, but for the silent readers who are listening quietly without saying a word. Someone has to tell them that those who oppose us have only insults, but no real evidence to support what they say.

It's not really that we are defending ourselves. What we are defending is truth.

Your last words were just want I was going to write! One day we will all know the truth. I am not fluent with the Bible nor can I say I am on the path as you (I am still searching and learning)but I know that IT will happen. I want to be there and go straight HOME. A warrior of any type can stand when truth, justice and God is on his/her side.

All you can do is try - there will be much persecution, but we witness to give the Good News. Many will not soften their hearts and open themselves until it is, sadly, too late.

God bless you.

Hello all,

Far too many people have been duped by a completely false set of interpretations concerning this time and the meaning of 666, Armageddon, Gog and Magog, and much other ancient symbology. Hence, Judeo-Christians have been deceived and thereby strongly-deluded into empowering the great evil I warned about throughout the ages.

If you want to understand the truth, practice patience and humility and don't scoff at the author of these ancient texts as I explain what I meant by them...

Time to get a clue, before its too late...

Peace and Wisdom !!!
